Hello all
so i picked up a evinrude 4 hp model modet e4rdhere outboard motor for 50 bucks off a local guy. He said it was running last time he used it but has been in the back of his barn for x amount of years. Got it home, emptied and cleaned gas tank, put prop in some water and tried her out. It will kick over, and even run sometimes pretty nice for like tops 5 seconds and tehn die out. Seems to get spark. Fuel keeps puking out front of carb. Anyone have any suggestions? Fuel pump issues maybe? Carb should probably be redone i would assume.
-Also wondering the correct starting procedure. I am not familiar with this model. I see the a choke knob, pull handle of course, the saftey mech. Is in place, and between choke and where the fuel inlet connects to motor there is a knob that runs through cowling inot carb. I assume it is for gas. Right? Where should that middle knob be when starting and whiile running. What is the purpose of it. I will take any and all suggestions on the above thanks folks!
