I have taken 2 Crusader Velvet Drive Model 270 engines out of a boat. I am not sure if they are 454 engines or not. The model # is CH270. I have the serial numbers 33017 and 33015. Thank you.

The Crusader model number CH270 is a Chevrolet 350 cubic inch engine. The 270 portion of the model number is the horsepower.

Crusader also made a model CH350 which is a 454 cubic inch, 350 horsepower engine. There's no end to the confusion those model numbers created.

Thank you. I was a bit confused as it requires 93 octane for fuel The engine is around the mid-60’s.

I have Crusader CH270 engines in my 1977 boat, and I am 98% certain they are original based on the casting dates of the blocks, heads, and intake manifolds. My serial numbers from the Crusader plate near the flywheel are 24030 and 28676.
