1975 Johnson 115 intermittent spark

I have a 1975 Johnson 115 the spark is very intermittent I can fire it up and It will run with a small misfire but then will clear up. But as soon as I shut it off it will not fire back up like it lost spark completely. What could cause this intermittent issue?
 
First steps ( no money spent ) is to load test the battery.----Pull starter apart for inspection and ohm test armature.------Then test electrical components like charge coils , sensor coils,
