Honda BF50- contemplating rewire

Attached are some photos of the rats nest under my console.

I believe most of the wire trash has to do with the radio and other abandoned wires. I’ve had the boat for several years and the gauges have never worked quite right. Original owner is a customer of mine and gave me the boat after the muskrats ate through 70% of the wires in the boat.

I replaced and heat shrinked what damaged sections I could find at the time. Boat was then stored in a slip since it all worked
worked enough

there were a few sections like this.

I would like to replace the factory harness, replace the remote control, start over with the radio and get the pre made plug and play switch panel with the complete accessory wiring harness. I’ve seen them online and on pontoon stuff.

can anyone vouch for this remote control and wire harness set being correct for a 97 bf50?

Where to start! Why are you wanting to replace the remote? Is there a mechanical issue with it? I ask as there's very little wiring associated with it. Just the tilt/trim switch.

To use a binnacle/top mount control (vs. side mount), the main harness is going to also need an accessory harness, plus the harness that includes the ign. switch/wiring, the safety lanyard switch, and the engine lights (oil and temp).

To purchase new, this is going to get expensive quickly. I would do some shopping for used parts on ebay. Still not cheap....

I can share that all of the mid size Honda's (35-90hp, the stuff I'm most familiar with) that are pre-2005 or so, all share the same harness components. For this reason I rarely pay any attention to the part numbers, so I will be of no help there.
