Difference in stators

Looking to add electric start to my 1985 20crcos and looking up parts used and new and I see a 1992 uses a different part number, but I don’t see a obvious difference.The 92 says about being a three wire,but the 85’ looks like three wires in picture.Any info would be appreciated.
 
After looking closer I see the center part is narrower on the 1989 to 92’ stator where wires are zip tied. Not sure about thickness of laminations.
