Fuel leaking from mouth of carb

Hi all,

I have a 1984 7.5hp merc and I'm noticing a bit of fuel leaking from the mouth of the carb. Enough that it will periodically drip out of the housing of the motor and into the water. I hate to leave a slick on the lake so I'd like to take care of it. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Carb has been rebuilt recently with new seals, needle valve. The float is original and I have adjusted so it sits level when the carb body is turned upside down.

Thanks in advance.

Is the wee recirculation hose from bottom of engine to top of block ( some go to carburetor ) in good shape?

Thanks for the reply. No it's not. I need to replace it. I was thinking it was something to do with the float and/needle valve, but could a damage hose cause fuel to leak out the throat of the carb?
