I'm working on an NS40D outboard. The complaint is excessive oil leaking from above the lower unit. It is leaking two stroke lubricant from the exhaust, which is in turn leaking out onto the ground. The engine starts, runs, but smokes excessively. My question is what is the procedure for checking the oil pump out for proper operation, and adjustment? The actuation rod was loose, so I know there's adjustment to the pump, but I'll be damned if I can find any kind of procedure on how to set the rod properly.
