float switch

this maybe crazy i changed float switch with a rule same as i had before. i think with the old switch it would come on and pump out.as the float hit the bottom.it seemed to run for a few seconds.this new switch floats to iop pump on as soon as float moves down about an 1/8 inch pumps off.bilge not empty make sense?thanks
 
Ayuh,.... Float switches are simple make, or break switches,.... No run-on when shut off,.....

If it's leavin' to much water in the bilge, reposition it to stay on longer,.....
