I call it pitting because that is what it looks like but it is probably crevice corrosion. It is very light and only in a couple of places on the sides, not the bottom...not that it matters.
I bought some of the low temp aluminum "welding" rods. More of an aluminum solder I think. I haven't tried them yet, so I don't know how it will work.
Has anyone had this issue? How did you deal with it? Has anyone tried the low temp alum welding rods on a thin alum gas tank?
I would almost trust JB Weld as a cover patch since I know that product well. The pitting is probably half way through from what I can tell.
