1984 351ci CCW engine starter

Can anyone help me with finding the starter OEM number ? I need to replace the starboard engine starter. Installed new battery and replaced the solenoid . Checked all electrical connection are clean and tight. The engine turns over very slow and sometimes to slow to start. I guess the number is on the starter somewhere . I haven't removed it yet which is another question . I want to have the replacement when I do pull it.

if it is the original starter, I'd doubt any of the original markings are still there.

there really aren't too many choices for the ford blocks. I'd suggest checking our host's part page - up at the top, in the orange box. If that doesn't pan out, check one of the marine rebuilders www page and I'm sure you can find their catalog - in a PDF or online...

On the connections, did you verify the ground cable was serviceable? I'd also suggest load testing the battery...an alternative would be to do a voltage drop test while cranking...
