1987 3.0 omc

I have a 1987 3.0 omc I'm rebuilding. The head is cracked and it's non-repairable. I was wondering if a high output head from a 90s engine will work? I want to try to get a little more power out of it and I figured a better flowing head would help out
 
Ayuh,.... As I said at iboats, there were several different heads used on the 3.0l, but that motor never made more than 140 hp,....
