2005 Johnson 50hp problems

[FONT=HelveticaNeue-Light, Helvetica Neue Light, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida Grande, sans-serif]I have a 05 Johnson 50 hp. it will not stay at idle. when first starting it it has to be choked then it will rev up until you unchoke it. it will idle for about 1 to 2 minutes then dies. to start again you have to choke it. then the same thing again. when you do get it started and on the water it runs really ruff. and shudders.[/FONT]
 
Model # is ?----Post results of a compression test.------How did it run for you last season ?-----Oil injection in service or bypassed ?-----Water pump serviced ?
 
J50PLSOC.....have not had a compression test done.....ran good last summer also ran good the first use this summer......it is a oil gas mix. 50to1.....water pump seams to have good pressure. was thinking maybe fuel pump. hope not. but that is my guess.
 
So does it run better if you operate the manual fuel pump ?-----There is a fuel pump available ( non mixing ) that mounts directly over the pressure pulse port on side of top cylinder.
