what motor is this? Where is the serial?

Ah thanks, this all does seem to be one original motor and boat from just one old guy, and then son.

Would you say the 6 and 8 are the same motor but different carb? Like the 10 and 15. Or two totally separate motors? Like how else would you tell a 6 from an 8 besides serial number?
 
The 6 and 8 HP look identical to a novice.---That is why I said it is the 6 or 8 HP model.-----Difficult to tell from 1072.5 miles away.-----I have repaired outboards since about 1968.-----So if you brought it over I could tell if it is the 6 or 8 HP as there are some subtle differences.
