I currently have a 40HP 1993 Evinrude motor model E40ELETB on my tracker boat.
I have 70HP 1996 Evinrude motor model E70TLEDR that I want to put on in place of the 40HP.
My question is is it possible to use the existing controls that are on the boat for the 70hp.
They both have the red connector but I'm not sure about the other connections such as the oil tank level, Tach and tiller control in the front of the boat.
The 70hp electrical drawing I have from the repair manual does not seem to be correct to what I see on the motor.
The manual I have has a electrical drawings for many different motors so I may be looking at the incorrect one.
I am an electrician so I do know how to read schematics.
I do have the control box that was used on the 70 but I was hoping I didn't have to change everything.
If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it and if you need more information please let me know.
