Freeze plug number identification

Hello Mates, I have an outboard motor that has no ID plate, the number on the freeze plug is J-2797091. I assume that the J stands for Johnson, but don't know, have looked for other plates. HELP
 
Pictures----If paint and cowling are original it can be easy to pinpoint the year.-----Plastic identification decals with laser printing are cheaper to produce then a stamped identification plate.----Just a modern ( useless ) method.
