1389 8490 mercarb throttle pump return spring?

This 1984 mercarb has a check ball in the bottom of the carburetor fuel pump bore. Do I need a return spring? The only I'd # for the boat I can find is stamped on the starter side of the block #4097080. 265. 93. Gm this is a 2003 V.P. 180 freedom hull. Any advice is appreciated?
 
Make sure you get the correct carb base gasket or you'll never get the idle mixture set. The correct gasket is much thicker than the rest of the carb gaskets.
