Hi,
I need a new prop for my 1978 35hp evinrude 358B62R
Iunderstand the basics of propeller selection, getting it in the right rev range, smaller pitch for better acceleration, larger pitch higher top speed etc..
What I am still careful of is acutally picking one.
I have a 4.2m rib, no seats etc so it's pretty light. I want to get highest top speed so can I just go for the biggest pitch prop that evinrude suggest? - this is a 10 * 13 prop. Or am I asking for problems and should I just go for a middle spec prop for 'best of both worlds'..for exmple they also reccommend 10.5 * 11... at the other end of the scale they also specify 11.25 * 7 for max acceleration but the engine top speed with surely be much lower that a 13 inch pitch prop.
I have never bought a new prop so I am sure you guys can teach me a few things before I part with my money.
Plan 'A' is get the 10 * 13 unless you tell me otherwire.
Thanks
Colin
