2001 bf90 parts hunt

Hey guys,

new to the forum but seems like a big help. I just bought a whaler and it’s got twin bf90’s from 2001. Got the engines checked and all is good.. except one is missing the muffler cover! I’ve been scouring eBay searching for one as the manufacturer stopped making them. Does anyone have any recommendations on where else I could look? I know there has to be one out there.

My suggestion would be to look up the part number, then do a search on ebay using that number preceded by the word Honda.

E.g. "Honda xxx-xxxxx-xxx"

I see two listed...items 26 in the link below.

What seems odd to me is that the available one is listed as:
17380-ZW1-020 but the accompanying note says to use with the earlier engine serial number??? (BG40D A)

While the unavailable one is 17380-ZW1-010 and the note says to use FROM the later engine serial number (BG40D B) ????

AND, the mounting gasket for both is the same....

Were you aware of all that?

I guess what I'm getting at is that, if the two parts use the same mounting, I'm guessing that the difference between them can't be huge.

Or, am I completely wrong about that?

So after giving my own advice a try, and striking out, I did some more poking around, and came up dry. Honestly, with all the companies parting out outboards I'm surprised. Demand for these should be pretty much non existent!
