I have a bad stator resulting in no spark in one of my 9.8 Mercs. When I check resistance it measures 28,000 ohms. Is that failure condition reasonable? I thought if a stator failed it would show a short to ground. I'm not real good with electronics, obviously but I don't understand what would cause a failure like that. What would cause the resistance to be so high? Any comments or advice is appreciated.
