Switching 225 honda from 30” to 25”

Hi all, I’m a charter boat operation trying to replace a blown starboard standard rotation 25” motor. The lower unit is good on the bad motor.

my question is, if I find a honda 225 30” motor, can I remove the midsection and install my 25” lower into the newer motor?

I bought brand new 250’s already and am still waiting on them. I need to find a replacement motor until my new ones come in.

I recently converted a 25" 50hp, to a 20". I had to change the drive shaft to the correct length, which required the lower unit to be pulled down to allow access to the pinion nut. The shift shaft had to be changed, and the water pipe from the pump had to be changed. Water pipe turned into quite a project on the 50, requiring the mid section to be removed to allow access to the one bolt that held it in place.....

So to answer your question, I'm pretty sure it can be done, but it's going to be a project....
