Hello,
Apologies if this is a dumb question, I do not have a lot of knowledge on outboard boat motors, especially Mercury ones. There are very fine, what appear to be metal shavings all over my engine compartment. It is more of a dust than shavings. They appear to all over but more centered towards the top.
It is a 2006 Mercury 50HP outboard. 2 stroke and 3 cylinders. Model #1050412FD. I have just purchased the boat/motor used and have only used it once.
My question is, is this normal or is this something I should be concerned about? Should I refrain from driving it until this is fixed? (if it's a problem).
I've attached two pictures of the dust.
All help appreciated!!! Thank you
