Is my M40C water pump working properly

HI, I'm new to Tohatsu. Just got a boat with a M40C on it. I'm concerned about the water pump. The water just comes out of 2 holes at the top of the gear case in a gentle flow instead of shooting out in a stream like other outboards I've had. I'm wondering if this is normal or if I should be installing a new impeller. Thanks in advance for any advice.

No pee tube on those oldies. Use an IR thermometer to check actual engine temperature. Never replace an impeller; do the complete water pump kit.

Thanks Paul, It's probably OK. I'll check it with my IR next time I take it out. About what temp should it maintain once warmed up?
