I have a 1970 slickcraft ss214 with a gm 305 motor and a stringer electric shift outdrive.i recently acquired a thunderbolt 4 distributor and module.wondering if it will work on my setup.

In theory if you can read both (OMC and merc) wiring diagrams and figure out how to wire it in yes. Do you have the wiring between distributor and module especially if there are any connectors?

i assume you are trying to upgrade a points distributor. If you cant get the tbolt to work the delco voyager systems ,is a common upgrade

You cannot use the existing wire to coil + as it is wired now.

Point ignitions use an external resistor. and a coil to match.

You need a new wire soldered in near main harness connector to coil + for full battery voltage to coil.
Also Make sure you are have or get a INTERNAL resister coil (any auto store ~$25.00).
