I have a 79 Volvo Penta 200D that seems to be getting plenty of gas, tries to turn over until I run out of battery power but is having a really hard time starting. I think there is not spark. I have replaced the distributor cap, rotor and the points. I have also replaced the coil. I replaced the spark plugs at the beginning of the season last year. It ran fine all summer except the last time out. Then all the troubles began. Maybe an issue with the carburetor is giving to much gas? I need so direction.

was it winterized/stored properly?

have you tested for lack of spark?

Proper diagnosis requires obtaining facts....thoughts usually aren't worth much for problem resolution.
