How do you tell if you r oil injection is working

As the title says, How can you tell if the oil injection is working

I bought a 2012 mercury that the old owner did not use is for some reason

Are all hoses / linkages hooked up ?----Perform oil output test or have shop check it.-----Or mark oil level in tank.----Mix a tank of 50:1.------Run motor and see if oil level drops in oil tank.
 
Optimax ?----Well you can not run 50:1 in those.----Hurry to your local shop and have the motor set-up and checked out.

Important question asked, good information given....


The Optimax is direct injected... Fuel/oil mix never touches the crank case.... just straight DFI oil... The oil injection system must be working if the previous owner was running the engine..... Or else it would be locked up/severely damaged by now.

Besides the ECM on the engine will set fault codes, beep like crazy and pull power if it does not see the the components of the injection system.
