Required Prestolite trim pump PT440/VB440AR alternative substitue

Hello all,

I have an outdrive from 1984 and it is using Prestolite trim/tilt pump (the one which can be seen online as a combination of PT440 motor with reservoir and VB440AR valve body, photo attached). It drives two trim/tilt cylinders. Does anyone know which newer, easily available, pump could be used as alternative substitute (part number preferable). I would like to avoid exotic rebuilding process if possible, also it could turn out cheaper. Making a few hose connectors to adapt it if required is not an issue, but I need to know which pump I can use.

Thanks,
Nikola

You can use pretty much any trim pump you want. The hose fittings are the same across most manufacturers. Mercruiser used several different types over the years but the most prevalent is the OilDyne pump. These have a white plastic reservoir with a yellow fill cap and separate relays.
If you shop for one on eBay or someplace like that, try to get one that has the bracket, relays and pump all together.

Decent pump:

Stainless bracket:

These were also used on some riding lawn mowers for hydraulic deck lift, so you might find one even cheaper in the outdoor power equipment listings.
