I recently purchased a used upper leg that had a better gear ratio for my alpha one leg. I believe the one I bought is a pre-alpha and my existing lower unit is alpha one gen 1. Can the "suspected" pre alpha one upper mesh with my alpha one gen one lower unit? They seem to line up but can't seem to get them to fully go together. I have attached photos...

How many splines are there on the lowerr units driveshaft, very early drives used an 8 spline and not a 12(13?) spline for later units
