Was there a manual for the A1 G2 prior to Manual 14 which is a 2001? I have a 2002 A1 G2 and I have Manual 14. I'm going to help a buddy remove his 1994 A1 G2 soon and I was wondering how many differences to expect or if there are any. Thanks for any help anyone can give.
 
No manual 14 is it for g 2 drives. I think the gimbal bearing and the ujoints are the only significant differences.

certainly removing there will be no difference. Just remember to disconnect the speedo tube its kind of hidden in there

Actually Manual 14 covers 1991 and up Drives.

Now there is a new version for Gen 2's as they have made changes in several areas. Not sure what the year was those changes took place but it should not affect your buddies issue but may affect yours.

They made some bearing changes in the drive shaft assembly (upper assembly that has the Yoke and double u-joint)

Maybe some else knows the date which the changes took place and which manual may be needed for newer drives.
