Hi Everyone, my first post, and I'm an Aussie!!!

I have the 2 stroke efi oil injected 150hp Mercury saltwater series.
On first start up it is smoky, which clears when in gear and running. At speed it runs fine.

I was fishing solo around 15 mile offshore and I started the engine and let it idle for 15 minutes to charge the batteries. But it appeared to foul the plugs as it started to splutter and misfire.

I decided to leave the fish biting and return to the mainland. After 10 minutes of under load running, it ran smooth again.

I use the Mercury synthetic oil and good quality fuel.
Any ideas on possible things to check???

Thanks !!!

Either injector problem/s or oil tank building to much pressure filling VST overrich. The pressure fitting may be acting up. Its on the block just follow hoses from oil tank in boat.

I'm thinking there is too much oil, so I will check out the oil side of things first.

If it was fuel related it would break down worse under load, but at full noise it runs smooth.

I think the plugs are oiling up when it idles due to too much oil.
