Hi Y'all

I am rebuilding a 2002 2 stroke 140 hp Tohatsu. Bored to oversize, new pistons and stuff

2 questions

Float height: I am having trouble adjusting the float height. With the carbs inverted it should be 19,5 mm from carb surface to top (bottom) of float. But it is not possible to adjust the height of the float by adjusting the clip. Since the rests on the needle valve when inverted. Any tips?

Oilpump: I am thinking of bypassing the oilpump. I havent got a new oilpump. I know that engine is constructed to use oil pump, but could I remove it? And motor still runs with a bit more smoke perhaps.

Thanks

The float should be approximately parallel to the casting when inverted. Adjust when not inverted, then invert to check.
You could premix at 50:1 but there is no reason, since the mixing pumps never fail. Run 25:1 during break in. That is done on mixing pump models by running 50:1 in the tank and letting the pump add additional oil.
