1969 Mercury 4hp jb welded cylinder

After further investigation I found out that this 1969 Mercury 4hp cylinder has been jb welded. I understand there is a water jacket around the cylinder’s themselves so what should I do? Spray over it with some black spray paint and act like nothing is there or what?

Spray paint it over.----Looks like a backyard tell tale fitting on it too.

Yup, the water exit is just some random tubing thrown together

What's the rest of the motor look like? Lower unit? These driveshafts like to rust into seal area at water pump....causing water to enter the bearing, then gears. Don't think I'd want this motor up in the wilderness. I have 5 or 6 of these little 4's......every one has a bad shaft and lower unit.....every one, and this is "fresh water" land here.
