Looking to pick up a 10hp pull start 15" outboard for my dinghy. Which one seems the best bang for the buck in terms of price and convenience/distance?

1) New 2021 Tohatsu 9.8hp 5 yr warranty shipped = $2050
2) Used 2019 Toh 9.8hp (20hrs) 5yr warranty, 3hr drive = $1,650
3) Used 2019 Toh 9.8hp (20hrs) 3yr warranty, 1hr drive = $1,500
4) Used 2020 Merc 9.9hp (6hrs) 3 yr warranty, 8hr drive =$1,500

I like option #2....that 5 year warranty sounds pretty good. 20 hours use is still okay....long as the prop and skeg are mint.....and no scratches on paint. You can assume it was in good care.

Right. Tohatsu is married to Honda..... also Nissan's. Lots of collaboration over the years between Honda and Tohatsu....also making the smaller Mercuries. Personally for a foreign motor choice, I prefer Honda/Tohatsu. Yamaha is also a very close second. Historically, I.....like many other techs here, appreciate earlier Johnson/Evinrude.....inventor of the outboard motor.

Just to clarify - Johnny Johnson and or Ole Evinrude didn't invent the outboard motorjohnole.jpg
cameron-and-porto.jpgthere is a plaque near omc headquarters that states "invented an outboard motor".

Ha!.....Guess your right....got me on a technicality......first "commercially produced" outboard motor.
