I have a used 1990s NS8B 2 stroke 2 cylinder 8HP that is expelling a lot of water through the upper exhaust port on the drive shaft housing, see pic/vid:

I bought this motor used and converted it from a ultra long shaft to short shaft. I replaced the gaskets between the powerhead and motor cover and between the motor cover and the drive shaft housing (both were large rectangular gaskets), but it still seems to expel a lot of water through that port, which my other 2 stroke outboards don't seem to do. This motor has a thermostat, and I've heard stuck open thermostats can cause water to shoot out the exhaust. I believe it still has the original thermostat as I didn't change anything in the powerhead. Is this normal or should I try replacing the thermostat or something else?
