Advice on removing ECM

I'm going to replace the elbow to manifold gaskets in the off season on my 2002 5.0 MPI A1 G2 (0M345638). I know these things are NLA. I'm gonna try to do it without unplugging it. I've heard static electricity can wipe them out. I know to have the battery removed. Any other special handling advice I need to know? Want to avoid doing anything stupid to mess it up. This is a 100% fresh water boat with raw water cooling and 1450 hours. Thanks.
 
If you disconnect the battery, you should be fine.

if you opt to disconnect it, be gentle with the connectors and avoid touching the pins...
