Can anyone help me with a tach application for this motor? 1092 55hp Model 557HD, serial 1304
I would like to install a tach on the dash but not sure what setting options need to be available on a new tach to make it work with this motor.

Saw the post on the other repair forum.
You ever figure out the poles on the stator?

From the other post.
These older Chryslers used an 8 pole and some a 12 then even a 20

Most 55's had a 8

Pull the flywheel or try to count the lugs on your stator.
Then see if you can find a tach that works with the amount
of lugs on the stator.
Then Google 8 pole or 12 pole tachs.

Good luck, Faria, one of the places that makes aftermarket tachs
says they no longer make a 20p

It is more than 12 so, based on options presented must be 20.
If I understand correctly I now need to find a tach that has a setting for 20 poles?

Some of the old Chryslers only had a 8 pole.
I'd count them before you assume it's a 20

Some retailers won't accept any electronics once it's been
opened???

Just pop the flywheel off.
