Does the discoloration at the aft end of the inside of this 1957/58 Evinrude 18HP cowling suggest anything or is it a normal occurence?

Is it dried mud? Looks like it was laid down on the beach or in a flood.

Yes, that's what I thought. Seen this before, the motor laid down in the dirt.
