engine stop solonoid keeps going bad

I got this engine in my SeaHawk 36: Yanmar Model 6CXM-GTE2; serial #70178;

Every year, the stop solenoid goes out. It's a reliable failure. Any ideas what could be causing that?

Low voltage. In a lot of boat the 12v path to the solenoid is from the battery to the helm and back to the engine. If the path is long. the solenoid is probably not getting 12v. This causes the solenoid to draw more amps. More amps heats the small wires inside the solenoid, burning the insulation between them, shorting them out. The solution is use a relay so the kill switch is only running the relay and the 12v path to the solenoid is a couple feet. Volts x Amps = Watts. The equipment tries to draw the needed watts. Do the math.
But it also could be a poor ground.
