Honda BF50 Throttle/Shift ends

Hello All,
I just bought a 2001 Honda BF50 from a friend for my pontoon. BAZS3210723. Apparently he took the motor off his pontoon, and disconnected the throttle and shift cables from the remote. He then ran over them with his lawn mower. In a fit of frustration, he threw out the cables with the cable ends. It came with a remote P/N 88688A62 which cross references with a Mercury Commander remote.
It looks like the Teleflex 3300 cables are what I need, but they simply come with threaded ends. I bought - 32392-881-002AH 33C Cable End Pivot- for the motor side, and it was too big. It is close to the right part, but it will not fit. I can not seem to source the remote ends at all for that "Commander" remote.

I will buy a universal remote if I have to, but has anyone else ran into this? What ends do I thread on to the Teleflex 3300 cable for the engine side and the remote side?
Thanks,
Tom

Tom, I was researching this the other day (for a project of my own, involving a "flush mount" shifter of unknown origin), and ran across a conversion kit that APPEARS to convert a cable normally used with a Honda control box, to the round barrel style often seen used with Merc and OMC controls. And, of course they are not available at the moment through regular sources. If you dig deep enough though, you'll find new old stock (NOS) available. The cherry on top of this mess, is the price of this little "kit" - about 50.00

So my best guess is you'll need this kit, a pair Honda of cables (or equivalent), and the 2 ends you have to take care of the control box end. Additionally, you'll need the 2 cable ends for the engine side.

The reward for dealing with all this, is one sweetheart of a pontoon boat or small fishing boat motor. -Al

Hey Alan, Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Yup. The remote was a 97 and the engine was a 2001. I am sure that the company that built the original pontoon had a bunch of pre 98 remotes or something. I got the remote ends from ebay and the engine ends from boats.net. Now lets hope I measured the cables correctly!!
