V6 Ring gear replacement

I need to replace the ring gear in my 1996 Volvo Penta SX cobra 4.3 V6. Question- is it easier to just replace the outside ring gear or just order a whole brand new flywheel for that application ($289 on Amazon)? 2nd question- Are all flywheels the same for a Chevy V6 (S10 and Volvo Penta)?

It will be less expensive to just replace the ring gear!
A new one will run in the neighborhood of $30 or so.

The SBC uses two sizes.... a 153 tooth and a 168 tooth.

You'll take the flywheel to a machine shop who has a turn table for doing this.
They will heat the bad one, tap if off.
While turning the flywheel with the new one laying in position, they will heat it up as to expand it.
As it's expanded, they will tap it into position.
This is a shrink fit scenario.

Make dang sure that they DO NOT heat it red hot, and in particular in Red Hot Spots.
That will damage the integrity of the steel.

I just looked for a good video, but I can't find one showing how it's done correctly.
The correct method involves using a turntable, and with as little heat as possible on the actual flywheel.
