I recently bought a 6hp nissan that had a few problems. I corrected the majority of those problems, one of which was the impeller was bad. I removed the lower unit with the shift lever in reverse and replaced the impeller then re installed the lower unit, the motor seemed hard to shift so I did not force it. when the shift lever was in reverse the lower unit was in forward. Ive since removed the lower unit and left it on the stand. Any suggestions? Did I do something wrong when removing the lower unit the first time

You just need to adjust the shift coupler (6mm bolt, 10mm head) that joins the shift rod with the cam rod.

Check your Factory service manual. N or R is good. The bolt may be hard to get to in N. Manually shift the LU into R and then set the lever in R (you may need to spin the prop a little for the clutch to engage) and start to snug the shifter coupler. Then run through the gears to make sure it's OK.
