Top Shift Rod Seal for a 1999 Johnson J90PLEEB 90hp Outboard Motor

I have a 1999 Johnson J90PLEEB 90hp Outboard Motor. I just replaced the seals and water pump in the lower unit. When I reinstalled the lower unit the shift rod pushed out half of the top shift rod seal located in the upper mid-section of the motor. The other half was missing and presumed to have fallen out during the lower unit removal. The replacement seal is on its way. My Seloc manual does not recognize this seal nor tells how to remove or reinstall. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
