Why can't I figure out how much my '97 Force 75 weighs?

Seems like it should be a straightforward question but I have a 100lb spread

first off the serial plate reads: 0E210138 ... blah blah.. 209 lbs / 95 kg

ok. but a casual internet search yields 279lbs

and then a manual I obtained specs the '97 75 as weighing 305 lbs:

The reason I ask is I want to replace it with a suzuki df70 four-stroke which weighs 343lbs and I want to see if I would be adding 50, 70 or 143 lbs to the transom

any help please?

What I'd worry about is what the boats rated for???
What kind of boat?
Usually 30-50# won't make much difference.
Just make sure you get the same length motor.
They come in 20-25"( I think) measure the transom.

The new motor might need new holes drilled??
Might not?
The Suzuki transom clamps look similar.

Thank you for the response!

It is an 18' pontoon boat, rated for 75hp (no engine weight is given), so 70hp should not be a problem. both engines are 20".

The transom is just a mounting plate that is open to the water so extra holes aren't a problem, if they are required.

Still, if the serial plate is to be believed, an extra 150# seems like it would be a very big deal considering that would be a 75% increase in weight! I am hoping the "real" weight is closer to 280lbs but I have no way to measure.

Pretty sure there's not 150# difference
in the motors.
Once the change has been made make sure
you have the right prop???
Pontoons usually need a prop with a lower
pitch.
