Older OMC V4 Lower unit electrical cable

I acquired this lower unit, hoping it may be a replacement for my 1979 100 HP Johnson Javelin  Not sure what this black wire is for? and where to connect to the engine. I didn't see it in the online diagrams on the website.I have attached a picture

That is an older HYDRO-ELECTRIC shift lower unit !!!!-----Spline on end of driveshaft is different that your 79 Javelin.-----Water pump is different.----There is no shift rod like your 79 model.-------There is no way that you can make this work !
