'73 9.5HP Water pump lower housing stuck on gearcase

It's actually titled "Bearing Housing Assembly" in the parts diagram, but it's the plate just below the water pump. Is it easiest to push it out from behind? I'm also fighting 2 broken bolts from the pump housing, but I'd prefer to get this plate off to give me more of the bolt to grab with vice grips. See picture. Any suggestions? I'd like to not damage this part.. It's $115 on boats.net!!

But it is a bearing housing.------Prying up with 2 hefty screwdrivers has taken that part out for me many times.------Don't buy any parts until you have done a very COMPLETE evaluation of this motor !!

It's probably stuck to the gasket. Yep, a couple of screwdrivers. I would not beat it out from below---might break it because it is thin and rather fragile.
