Dropped lower unit and pulled out speedometer tube

I bought a 1995 Rinker Flotilla and wanted piece of mind. So, I was replacing the impeller (my first time ever). When dropping the lower unit, I didn't disconnect the speedometer. Instead, I accidently pulled out about 8" of black tube. It had a white barbed hose connector on the other end. So, thankfully, it looks like I cleanly pulled barbed connector end out of a hose somewhere and didn't rip the hose. So, I should just need to reconnect the connector. However, I can't find the line. Do I need to pull the upper unit off the boat now?
 
Yes, you're right. As best I can tell, it's an Alpha 1 Gen II. Serial number is 0F538758.

I'm not 100% clear on what's shown in your picture there. I would have to remove the upper unit as well then?
