97-98 Charcoal Block 5.7 Serial Number location (Yes, I read the sticky...)

I have a 1998 ChrisCraft Deck boat with a 5.7GS.

It runs great but for the life of me, I cannot find the serial number. I have identified through drawings and years that it is a 5.7GSPLK or 5.7GSPBY but there are a number of parts that are different numbers on these two engines and various sub-models that start with these numbers.

Can someone tell me where on the block you would expect to find the serial# plate? I have scoured every surface on top like the valve covers and heads and I find no plate.

I see where they say there is one on the back of the block but ChrisCraft makes looking back there EXTREMELY difficult and I have yet to capture anything using my cell phone as a second set of eyes. Granted, you have to know at least a basic location since it is a maze of cables, wires, pipes and hoses.

Any other ideas on how I could get an Id from an engine such as this?

Thanks!

If the engine was properly registered with Volvo Penta by the selling dealer. It is possible to find the original engine serial number with the H.I.N., drive or TSK (transom) serial number.
