NS40D Fuel pump rebuild help

Took the fuel filter off and forgot to snap a pic. Anyone know which way the front plate should face?

The pump on the lower carb? The cover goes on as in your book.

Yes, i cant tell from the book it bot very clear. Im thinking it goes like this with the indentations out

Awesome thanks! Just for my understanding is it so that the gasket has more room to move when under pressure from the motor? From what ive read this type of pump creates a vacuum from the carbs. I'm new to this stuff but I like to learn and understand. Thanks again!

I decided to rebuild the fuel pump because of an issue i had on lake. The motor would run well WOT for about 15 minutes then would bog down to about 1/2 power. Id turn off motor and let it sit for about 15 minutes and same thing would happen. After i started taking parts off to get to fuel pump i noticed that the oil sensor has one lead disconnected so not sure if that was the issue or the fuel lines. Either way im changing out all the lines, rebuilding pump, and fixing oil sensor. Id like to take the oil pump out and premix at some point, i suspect it is part of the problem too.

No need to premix. The auto mixers never fail.
