check for spark

I have a 65 hp outboard and I don't have the controls for it but do have the engine connector with short wires on it.  Looking at the wiring diagram if I put 12 volt DC to the red wire going to the switch box will that give me spark when the engine spins?   Assuming the ignition system is good lol<br><br>I hope I attached a jpeg of the schematic

Be very careful if you start applying volts in various places.---Mistakes can be expensive.

That is why I am asking now before I do something stupid

Model is a 1974 650, thunderbolt ignition. Serial number is 3000632
Compression is 135 on all 4 cylinders but I want to make sure I have spark before I go any farther with it.

The schematic attached is for this engine.

Bob W----Your motor is a 1971 model.--------You can not have a 1974 model 650 with 4 cylinders.---Fact in 1972 the 650 went to 3 cylinders !
