1st boat for me so learning.
Last time boat was out I got a overheat alarm (constant tone). Even though piss stream was on.
Then, next morning, motor was skipping big at speed. (no alarm but didn't run it long)
Then, after a 1 month wait, this is what I got today.

It's getting fuel. And running. But skipping a lot.
Plugs?
Cylinder?

What do ya'll think. Figured I'd ask ya'll first before doing anything else.

Perhaps you have run it like that for a while.----Stop running it.------Check gear oil.----Test for spark that can jump a gap of 7/16" on all leads.----I would take lower unit of to check shift rod height.----But maybe the clutch dog and forward are now KAPUT already.---Take the gearcase apart for inspection.

Opinion #1. Clutch dog and forward gear are beyond worn out. It is coming out of gear, rotating half a revolution, and slamming back into gear----over and over again. Every time it happens, it destroys the parts a little bit more.

Has nothing to do with the overheat.

-----OR------

Opinion #2. The overheat cooked the exhaust gaskets and it is squirting water into a cylinder.

Either way, it is $$$ if you continue to run it.
