Got a call today from a freind of a freind about motor rotation on a 454 BW 72 series equipped boat. I thought I had this down but trying to diagnose the problem I got confused. I always thought the trans with the reduction gears such as the 1.88:1 turned the wheels the same direction as the motor if looking from the front to aft. Am I wrong on this? Any help here would be greatly appreciated!!

Here's the way engine rotations are described....look at the flywheel...if it spins clockwise, its a RH engine, if it spins CCW, its LH. the LH rotation is 'standard'.

on the BW inline reduction gears, the output rotation matches the input rotation...the exception is the 1.88 (& 1.91) to 1's were the output is OPPOSITE of the input...
